HOLISTIC-EDUCATION

Indus is one of the few schools that goes beyond academics, catering to students’ signature strengths. At Indus, we give as much importance to arts, crafts, music, dance, drama, and sports as academics.

The Innovation Curriculum is unique to Indus. It allows the students to develop competencies required to excel in life. All of these aspects provide for holistic education. Here, creativity receives equal importance to other subjects.

The Innovation Curriculum, Startup School, Indus Orchestra, House Visions, Community Service Projects, Inter-school tournaments, Inter-house competitions are some of the opportunities provided to students. Through these features, we aim to develop students’ competencies that would prepare them for the VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world that lies ahead of them.

Indus is the only school that includes academics as part of holistic education.

THE INDUS STARTUP SCHOOL

Indus Startup School is the first of its kind in K-12 education globally, where students of Grades 9 to 12 pursue a twinning/dual program committing 4 hours a week at the Startup School.

Students work in teams to develop competencies in the following areas:

  • Leadership

  • Life

  • Business

  • Technology

The curriculum aims at guiding students on how to think, learn, and reflect on their learning to promote student autonomy.

A unique feature of the Startup School is the involvement of parents as mentors, who guide and coach students in the development of business competencies. This parent-school partnership highlights the paradigm shift in 21st-century education and the collaborative approach in unlocking the potential of a child.

INNOVATION CURRICULUM

Indus launched its very own innovation curriculum- a unique endeavor to help the young Eagles unlock their potential.

INDUS COLLABORATIVE LEARNING MODEL

90% of a traditional teacher’s time is taken up in preparing for the next day’s class, homework, assignments, formative and summative assessments, academic processes, and campus responsibilities. This leaves her/ him with no time to personalize the learning- teach the child.

We believe that teacher- robots can take over these repetitive responsibilities to enable the teacher to focus on the child.

Therefore, Indus has conceived and produced the world’s first AI-enabled teacher- robot: Eagle 4.0 who teaches collaboratively with the teacher. Eagle 4.0 is equipped with the latest technology and the following features:

  • Content delivery

  • Two-way interaction

  • Conversation model

  • Student recognition through voice

  • Student engagement analysis and intervention through facial recognition

  • Automated assessment with prescriptive and predictive analysis along with personalized feedback

THE INDUS SCHOOL OF LEADERSHIP

Indus School of Leadership (ISL) was set up in 2009 to cater to the leadership training needs of Indus school students. This unique institution was initiated with a grand vision of providing leadership education through experiential learning wherein students undergo transformative experiences through real-life situations and adventure. Over a decade, ISL emerged as a premium leadership training institute in India and has extended its expertise and experience to a wide range of audiences such as schools, colleges, and corporate.

The ten-acre campus of ISL is located among the beautiful rocky hills and forests of Kanakpura on the outskirts of Bangalore (approx. 70 km from the city) where it provides the right combination of outdoor experience in a natural setting. The campus is equipped with a variety of training activities such as trekking, rock craft, obstacle courses, paintball, rope courses, zip line, wall climbing, shooting, wellness center, and many more. The infrastructure also includes amphitheaters, reflection centers, conference rooms, a training hall, lush, concrete living accommodation, dining hall, and infirmary. Institute’s transport system provides a pick & drop facility for participants. The institution is self- sufficient in all aspects of functioning. The safety and security systems are fully programmed and equipped to handle any emergency.

The leadership education being the core of the curriculum at all Indus Schools, the training team strives to give the best training experience through challenging tasks, followed by deep reflection and concept-building exercises. Self-awareness and self-regulation form the key components of the training curriculum along with other leadership skills and knowledge such as purpose and vision, goal-setting, creativity and innovation, risk-taking, critical thinking, non-linear thinking, wellness, team building and collaboration, and entrepreneurship.

The experiential learning at ISL provides immersive experiences that engage the person as a whole – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The physical activities along with reflective discussion most importantly touch the heart and mind of the person to make the necessary impact and inspiration.

THE PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PAC)

Indus International Schools follow an open-door communication policy with parents as we believe that they are our partners in their wards’ education.

This partnership is unique in the sense that it creates a nurturing environment for the kids, where we ensure that the best possible decisions are taken with a common goal in mind - to educate our students with the right competencies to succeed in life.

Given this, we value parental feedback which helps us rectify, reinvent, and raise our benchmark of success continuously.

In order to achieve the above with intent and commitment, Indus schools have instituted a fully functional and actively involved Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), a voluntary body of parents. The uniqueness of the PAC lies in its key objectives that support the vision, mission and goal of the school.

The PAC is headed by the Chairperson and the Co-chair who are ably supported by a core team. The PAC core team in turn, is supported at the grassroot level by active parent volunteers who serve as grade representatives and parent council members. This ensures that parents are actively engaged with the school at all levels and contribute towards the continuous improvement of academic and whole education standards. Thus, the philosophy of preparing students for success in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world is achieved with a strong home-school partnership, mainly driven by the PAC.

The PAC meets with the Principal and school leadership team at regular intervals throughout an academic session. This dialogue between the school and the parent community reinforces the open mindedness with which Indus Schools operate and the emphasis and appreciation of feedback from the parent body they place towards the school’s pursuit of excellence and efforts to continuously raise the academic and whole education standards for every child in their care.
